RYAN VILLOPOTO: 2-STROKE CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2-Stroke World Championship took place at Glen Helen Raceway. We loaded the truck and headed out to meet with Ryan Villopoto. I can’t remember the last time he raced, but it had been a while.

For those who don’t know, Ryan was a badass in Motocross racing from 2005 to 2014. A four-time 450cc AMA Supercross Champion, a two-time 450cc AMA Motocross Champion, a three-time 250cc AMA Motocross Champion & a one-time 250cc West Supercross Champion.

Simply put, he was one of the best to ever race in Motocross.

Today, he is a Rad Dad, always with his two boys, an ambassador for Yamaha, Fast House, Mobius, and Bell, and still working with Pro Circuit and Monster Energy after all these years. He and Ricky Carmichael have a podcast called Title Two Four, a weekly download on Motocross racing and insight for the two of them. So it was great to see him line up, even if it was just a fun Saturday morning at Glen Helen.

The atmosphere at Glen Helen was electric; a sea of motocross enthusiasts and fans of all ages gathered to witness the thrilling races and soak in the vibrant energy of the day.

Before the race began, I asked Ryan when he had last done two 20-minute motos, to which he replied, "When I was racing eight years ago." Seeing him out there enjoying himself and people coming by to say hi and check out his bike was incredible.

Ryan's bike was a custom-built YZ 250, and it was raffled off after the race. To whoever won it, enjoy the ride!

Well done to Glen Helen Raceway and FastHouse for an incredible day in the dirt.
