NATURAL SELECTION TOUR DUELS:
JOURNEYMAN LODGE & KIRKWOOD RESORT

This year, I had the opportunity to contribute to the Natural Selection Tour, first as a consultant and then as a producer for two of the NST – Duels events, which aired on Red Bull TV. The Natural Selection Tour continues to push the boundaries of competition in surfing, biking, snowboarding, and skiing, and being part of this journey was an incredible experience. Through this project, I gained even more respect for the internal team—their passion, creativity, and relentless drive to redefine action sports are truly inspiring. 

The Journeyman Duel at Callaghan was particularly special, marking Natural Selection's first-ever foot-powered duel. Originally, the Kirkwood duel was set for late January, but with Tahoe’s snow conditions looking questionable, we made a last-minute call to flip the order—starting at Journeyman first before heading south to Kirkwood. In hindsight, this move worked out perfectly. 

At Journeyman, we arrived just as 60 cm of fresh snow had blanketed the terrain, setting up ideal conditions. By the time we reached Kirkwood, a storm was rolling in on Wednesday and Thursday, aligning perfectly for a Saturday competition day. The combination of incredible conditions, a dedicated media crew, and an all-star post-production team made this project truly special.
